Edge Foundation

Apprenticeships Work is Edge Foundation’s new campaign to encourage more SMEs to hire apprentices — helping to unlock opportunity and drive local economic growth. SMEs make up 99.8% of UK businesses and 60% of jobs, and they play a crucial role in offering apprenticeships to young people, particularly outside major cities. Yet, since the Apprenticeship Levy was introduced, the number of apprentices employed by SMEs has dropped by 17 percentage points. We’re calling on Government to remove the barriers holding SMEs back, while spotlighting the benefits of apprenticeships and showcasing the brilliant initiatives already making an impact. Institute of Directors

The IoD is an independent, non-party political organisation representing 20,000 company directors, senior business leaders, and entrepreneurs. It is the UK's longest-running organisation for professional leaders, having been founded in 1903 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1906. It campaigns on issues of importance to its members and to the wider business community with the aim of fostering a climate favourable to entrepreneurial activity in the UK, including working to ensure that the apprenticeship system enables businesses to access the talent they need to thrive.

National Careers Service

The National Careers Service offers free, high-quality and impartial careers advice, information and guidance to anyone aged 13 and over. Whether you’re starting out, changing direction, or looking to develop your skills, we’re here to help at every stage of your career journey. Black Apprentice Network help companies in Birmingham, Manchester, and London recruit top-tier, diverse apprentice talent by connecting them with our community of over 4,000 aspiring apprentices. The Careers & Enterprise Company

The Careers & Enterprise Company is the national body for careers education in England, supporting schools and colleges to deliver modern, 21st century careers education. Our mission is to help every young person find their best next step. We do this by working with schools, colleges and employers to improve careers education and secure better outcomes for young people. The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB)

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) is a non-profit, non-party-political grassroots business organisation that provides its members with a wide range of vital business services. These include advice, financial expertise, legal support and a powerful voice heard in Government for over 50 years. FSB campaigns on a range of issues that impact small businesses and the self-employed, including the education and skills system. This includes working to make sure the apprenticeship system provides small firms with a fair, financially viable and straight-forward way to recruit and up-skill their workforce.
